Logical Venn Diagram Concept

      In this chapter, we deal with questions which aim at analysing a candidates ability to relate a certain given group of items and illustrate it diagrammatically. Figures representing groups of items in the form of enclosed regions are called Venn-diagrams named after the British logician - John Venn. To represent these diagrams we use different geometrical figures like circles, these are following type :

(1) All part — Mother, Female

Logic : All mother's are female.

(2) Some part — Teacher, Male

Logic : Some teachers are male.

(3) None part — Male, Housewife

Logic : No male is housewife.

   There are a position of above two word but a question have three words. There is a special relation between them. You shall be define this relation threw by answer figures.

There are given ten figures position for the three words —

(1) In this chapter we will deal with basically three entities. There are following types of question which are generally asked in various exam.

India, M.P. and Indore -

Sol. - (B)

Logic : These are geographic area. Indore is situated in M.P., and M.P. is in the India.

(2) Fruit, Grapes, Apple -

Logic - All grapes and Apples are fruit.

(3) Vegetable, Cabbage, Mango -

Logic - All cabbages are vegetables, while mango is a fruit. Hence, it shows different.

(4) Human, Female, Engineer -

Logic - Some females are engineer and all females are human.

(5) Graduate, Post graduate and Doctor -

Logic - Only graduate person may be post - graduate. While some graduate and some post graduate may be Doctor and some teachers may be - Neither graduate nor post graduate.

(6) Flower, Red, Clothes -

Logic - Some flowers are red coloured and some clothes are red coloured too.

(7) Teacher, Male, Singer -

Logic - Some males are teacher and some males are singer. Some groups may be male, teacher and singer.

(8) Sunday, Tuesday, Friday -

Logic - These are different - different days.

(9) Advocate, Male, Truck -

Logic - Some males are advocate. While there are no relation between truck and advocate or male.  

(10) Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh -

Logic - Chandigarh is the capital of Haryana and Punjab.

Example - (1) Language, Sanskrit, Science -

Sol. - (C)

Logic - Sanskrit is a language. While science is different.

Example - (2) Widow, Female, Smoker -

Sol. - (B)

Logic - Widow words is use for female. While smoking lover may be widow, women or others.

Example - (3) Tennis lover, Cricket player, Student -

Sol. - (D)

Logic - Some students are may be cricket player and tennis lover. Hence them are related to each - other.

Example - (4) Quadrilateral, Rectangle and Square -

Sol. - (D)

Logic - All rectangles and square are quadrilateral and all square are rectangle.
